The Ensemble Studio Theatre

The Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) is a not-for-profit developmental theatre with two primary goals: to nurture individual theater artists and to develop new American plays. Founded in 1972 by Curt Dempster, the theater’s membership has grown from a core of 20 artists to a flourishing community of over 500 theater artists of the highest caliber. Among them are winners of accolades and awards, including Pulitzer Prizes, Oscars, Tonys, Emmys and Obies. EST has had a prolific and energetic history, generating more than 6,000 full-length plays, which have been produced at more than 360 theaters across the United States.
